DC Metro area real estate team leader and philanthropist Sheena Saydam of Saydam Properties Group is an avid reader and all-around incredible human. She is a mom of three, a wife, the managing partner of DC’s #1 top-producing KW team (2022), and a prominent community activist. Her charitable efforts in her community and beyond have positioned Sheena as a respected leader and businesswoman.
Saydam Properties Group has sold more than 1,500 homes entirely by referral and is known for giving back to the community. Their charitable giving has resulted in the creation of countless clean water drinking wells in Africa, the first library for a local maximum security prison, a shower truck for the homeless, and investments in military veterans, DC firefighters, school safety, after-school tutoring, and athletics for children in NE, DC, a school for 80 girls in Kisii, Kenya, and countless other projects.
When asked how she can be productive and read a book weekly, Sheena credited always having a physical book near her as one way she has prioritized reading. She says she will often take books with her on a car ride (passenger, of course), on flights, and during travel. Sheena says that besides reading while cooking (a talent in its own right), she reads 50 pages or more each night after her kids are asleep.
We are enjoying the list of 7 books Sheena recommends all productive, growth-minded leaders should read next. You can watch this video of Sheena commenting on why each of these books is among her favorites.
7️ Books Leaders Should Read Next:

Surrounded By Idiots – Thomas Erikson
Sheena loves this book because it uses DISC to help you understand people and their strengths and weaknesses to better communicate with them. Sheena says, “It’s so good.”.

I Will Teach You To Be Rich – Ramit Sethi
Sheena and her team read this book every year. She says it is digestible and teaches you how to invest.

How Good Humans Sell – Catherine Brown
Most people don’t like texting or calling prospects because they don’t want to bother the person and don’t feel they have value to give. This book shares how to overcome this.

Unreasonable Hospitality – Will Guidara
Sheena loves this book because it is an inspiring and exciting example of transforming your business by giving more than your customer expects. “I highly recommend”.

You’re Not Listening – Kate Murphy
Sheena says that this book is one of the best books on listening that she has read (and she has read more than 6 on the subject). If you speak more than you listen, this book “will change your life”.

High Performance Habits – Brendon Burchard
This book is another that Sheena and her team read each year. She says it is “a friendly kick in the butt to get things going” and is “so good”.

Necessary Endings – Dr. Henry Cloud
If you need help with tough conversations or letting people (and things) go, this book can help
Showing Support For Sheena’s Charitable Efforts
We asked Sheena which of her charitable projects currently needs the most help, and she would be most appreciative of any generosity to Mission and Movement. Through this organization, Sheena is helping build a school in Kenya that will allow over 80 impoverished girls to receive an education so they can become anything they dream of becoming, which puts a radiant smile on Sheena’s face.
Three ways we would love to see our supporters help Sheena –
1. Donate any amount you are compelled to give to www.missionandmovement.com
2. Follow Sheena on social media for updates on the school, as she will be traveling to Africa in June 2023. Facebook: @sheena.saydam Instagram: @selling_dc
3. Remember Sheena and Saydam Properties Group for your DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia referrals.
